“Not that I was ever in need, for I have learned how to get along happily whether I have much or little. I know how to live on almost nothing or with everything. I have learned the secret of contentment in every situation, whether it be a full stomach or hunger, plenty or want; for I can do everything God asks me to with the help of Christ who gives me the strength and power. “ Philippians 4:11-13
I can squawk, whine, moan and grumble about:
- How life could be better
- What details should come together
- Where I should be in life
- Who I should be
- How others should treat me
- How something should work
- Who should respect me……
well, you get the point, right?
Or I have the option to be content, no matter what comes my way.
I can be content with WHAT IS and TRUST that God has a REASON for things to BE the way they are, WHEN they are and for HOW LONG they are.
I can trust that God’s master plan is by far superior to any I could dream up, plan up or manipulate into being.
I will be humbled. I will be patient. I will trust in His sovereign timing. I will not be anxious.
I will pray for God’s purpose in my life. I pray that God will continue to use my gifts to bring glory to His name.
I WILL be content in the waiting, in the unknown, in the un-promised.
I have been promised little in this life but this I know: I am the willing recipient of my Heavenly Father’s unconditional love. I have not been promised financial success, a successful career, respect from my peers, for things to go my way… or even happiness.
But I have the option to be content in all that is bestowed upon me, for my days on earth… and I rest in the promise that He’s got it under control.
Lord, I pray… in your time and in your way.
That’s the secret I will embrace…..
“Embrace uncertainty. Some of the most beautiful chapters in our lives won’t have a title until much later.” Bob Goff
